A young woman of my acquaintance routinely wears fingerless gloves while driving. She feels, as I do, that the sun on her hands when young will eventually be the cause of those dark brown ‘age spots’ on her hands when she is older.
Age spots can commonly occur on the hands, arms, face, neck, and décolletage of middle aged and older women (and men). My wonderful Step-Mother, MaryLou, a very sharp woman in her 80s, was very conscious of the age spots on her hands, especially when playing a card game or dominoes with her friends. It gave me great satisfaction to treat them with a Broad Band Laser (BBL), sometimes referred to as a Photo-facial. After the BBL treatment, over the course of two weeks or so the spots would drop off, and her hands would have a much younger and more natural look.
The same effect can be achieved with BBL laser treatments to face, neck, arms, or chest area for much younger and healthier looking skin.
You may remember going to the beach or pool when you were a youth, teen, or young adult and using tanning oil to get a nice brown skin tone. (Sorry fair skinned redheads, no tan for you!) Scoot ahead 30 years, and we find age spots appearing on our skin due to the unprotected UV-rays from the direct sun exposure. How we loved having that great tan when going back to school in the Fall, but unbeknownst to us, it came with a cost to be paid later.
