Rosé to Rosacea

Rosé to Rosacea

At the end of the day I will often enjoy relaxing by reading a choice of the latest fiction offerings. With novel in hand and a glass of chilled Rosé my favorite chair beckons.

Conversely, my husband Tom does not enjoy when his rosacea flares up. Tom is 60+ years of age, and like many Caucasian men in his age bracket, the skin condition we call rosacea can occur on his cheeks and nose. Many people in his demographic will ignore the problem, but since I am a nurse and licensed aesthetician, Tom cannot continue with this condition on my watch!

Rosacea is the term we give to a common, long-lasting skin condition of the face. Rosacea can appear on the cheeks, nose, forehead, and chin as facial redness. This redness is caused by small, visible blood vessels which can take the shape of thin red lines, red solid bumps (which resembles acne), or dry itchy eyes. The causative factors are unknown, but genetics, environmental factors, and certain triggers like sun exposure, alcohol, smoking, or stress can play a part in rosacea formation.

Rosacea can form in younger or more mature men and women, and can happen to people with all levels of melanistic skin lightness or darkness.

The demographic that I want to focus on are the mature, Caucasian males, like Tom. As mentioned earlier, men of this age will typically ignore the problem when help is readily available. If you are a mid-life male reading this, or if you or your husband exhibit the signs of rosacea, come see us. Some husbands may need a strong persuasion on your part to get a consultation, but they will appreciate your efforts when looking both younger and healthier after treatment.

Your Aesthetician may choose to treat the rosacea with a topical skin care regimen, or with a Broad Band Laser treatment, which I have used successfully on Tom. They may recommend a self-care routine of cleansing and a quality facial lotion with daily sunscreen application.

Our staff can help your skin to look great and be healthy. Call Beals Skin and Laser Center at (480) 947-6788 for your consultation with one of our experienced Aestheticians.
